As most of you know, before I was introduced to the Body Beast workout program, I was a diehard P90X’er.  I completed about 4 full rounds of P90X.  Well, with that experience, I wanted to share with you some of the best P90X Tips to help you get started off right, and see the results you want to see faster.  Enjoy these tips…

(1) Follow the Nutrition Guide.  I tell those that I coach that you can bust your butt all day and all night in the gym doing P90X, however, you can never out-train a bad diet.  If you are fueling your body with crap, then your results will be significantly limited.  It’s so true that results come from 75% diet and 25% workouts.  You are what you eat.  When it comes to the P90X Nutrition Guide, it’s important to understand what your body will need to see the best results.  The P90X Nutrition Guide will break down your caloric needs, protein needs, carb needs, etc, which is very important to follow as close as you can.  A great app that I like to share with those I coach through P90X is called MyFitnessPal, which can help track your daily nutritional needs.

(2) Take the right supplements. Supplements have played a HUGE role in my results, and they are something that I recommend to everyone I coach. However, it’s important that you use the RIGHT SUPPLEMENTS! As we know, there are a bunch of supplements on the market.  Some are great, some are good, and some are just a waste of money.  I like to recommend the supplements I use on a daily basis, mostly because I know they are safe and they are working well for me and my results.  Here are the current supplements I take, and if you make me your coach, I’d be happy to share my full supplementation schedule with you.

(3) You need support. You need to find someone that will hold you accountable, answer your questions, help you, and PUSH YOU for the entire 90 days! If you’re starting P90X, this is an absolute MUST! (4) Create goals and take pictures. What you need to do before starting P90X is take some time to think about what goals you want to accomplish by the end of your 90 days. How much weight do you want to lose? How many inches do you want to lose or gain (if trying to gain mass like I did)?  Make sure you take the time to think of these goals, some big and some little milestones to aim for.  This is what will keep you motivated, and, help you judge your progress throughout.  Also, don’t forget to take your front, side and back photos on Day 1, Day 30, Day 60 and of course Day 90!  These photos are not only for a chance to make the infomercial, but can be used as your own personal motivator to judge your progress.

(5) Modify till you can maxify. There is nothing wrong with modifying the exercises if you can’t do the original one! This is the reason Tony Horton always has someone showing the modified versions in each of the workouts. Modifying the moves is still alot better than not doing them at all.  For example, when I first started P90X, I couldn’t do a pullup, so instead of pullups on the pullup bar, I used the elastic bands.  Then, I moved up to the pullup bar with a chair as assistance.  I knew I could modify the moves to still get the reps in.
