Eating Healthy on a Budget

“I don’t have enough money to eat healthy.”


Eating healthy on a budget is always a hot topic.

If people use that as an excuse, it’s not because of the budget being the issue, it’s because they are used to convenience of gross processed crap. People aren’t forced to eat like crap – they CHOOSE to. You can eat healthy even on the tightest budget. Hell, tuna is one of the cheapest foods at the store. Veggies are cheap. A bag of chicken for $12 lasts you a week of dinners. Water is FREE (or cheap for those who don’t drink tap). Rice is dirt cheap and will last you months. Oatmeal costs the same price as a candy bar and will last you weeks! So for those using “money” as an excuse, I’m sorry, but I call your bluff and raise you all in…

It is possible if you choose to do it.

What are some nutritious foods that you can get at the store for cheap to help you stay fit?

Here are some ideas to help you pack your shopping cart of healthier items but still keep your money in your wallet:

  • Brown Rice
  • Quinoa
  • Non-Fat Greek Yogurt
  • Oatmeal
  • Frozen Vegetables
  • Chicken Breasts
  • Fish Fillets
  • Ground Turkey
  • Salad Greens
  • Tuna
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Salsa
  • Wheat Bread
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Edamame
  • Lentils
  • Almonds / Nuts
  • Peanut Butter
  • Black Beans
  • Oats / Granola

Those are just a few ideas to help inspire you to eat healthier, even on a tight budget.  Sure, a lot of junk crap is dirt cheap, but you’ll only pay less now and pay more in a few years when you have your next doctor visit. You choose… and hopefully, you choose to eat healthy.

That’s no fun. We make all our challenges with healthy, normal foods. We are just asking you eat clean for one week, commit and have some fun!

Please note: We are just suggesting a meal plan to follow that we will be doing. You don’t have to commit to it 100% if you don’t want to. You can use it as an outline to create your own changes and modification if you’d like. The main reason we hold these 5-Day Clean Eating Challenges is to just have everyone commit and be motivated for a week… then, we if all goes well, hopefully the motivation you gain and the tips and tools you learn during that week stay with you after!

If you are looking for that first step to getting on a healthy path, then this challenge is for you! This is one of those short term goals you can accomplish. You will feel so good at the end of day five that you’ll want to continue. You can do a workout program with this challenge. If you just want to take the challenge first then combine it with a workout program, you can do that too.
