10 Reasons to Drink Water

Why Must We Drink Water Daily?

Do you drink enough water in your daily diet?  Do you even know how much water you should be drinking a day?  After studies, for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. For women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.  Now remember, dont drink all this at once, but try to do your best to spread it out evenly thoughout the day.

Personally, I drink at least one gallon per day, sometimes more depending on my workout or my activities. Now that Im doing Body Beast, I have increased my water intake significantly.

Why is it important to stay hydrated? Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don’t have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired.

Here is a list of 10 important reasons why our bodies need water.  While you read these, why dont you go fill up a glass right now?

  1. Water is absolutely essential to the human body’s survival. A person can live for about a month without food, but only about a week without water.

  2. Water helps to maintain healthy body weight by increasing metabolism and regulating appetite.

  3. Water leads to increased energy levels. The most common cause of daytime fatigue is actually mild dehydration.

  4. Drinking adequate amounts of water can decrease the risk of certain types of cancers, including colon cancer, bladder cancer, and breast cancer.

  5. For a majority of sufferers, drinking water can significantly reduce joint and/or back pain.

  6. Water leads to overall greater health by flushing out wastes and bacteria that can cause disease.

  7. Water can prevent and alleviate headaches.

  8. Water naturally moisturizes skin and ensures proper cellular formation underneath layers of skin to give it a healthy, glowing appearance.

  9. Water aids in the digestion process and prevents constipation.

  10. Water is the primary mode of transportation for all nutrients in the body and is essential for proper circulation.

After reading those, are you thirsty yet?  Our bodies are mostly water, and need water to function.  If you are actively working out, then you are going to definitely need to drink water, and plenty of it!
